• The Stone Temple Pilots broke up after completing a tour for their 2001 album, Shangra-La Dee Da.  
• Vocalist Scott Weiland has suffered battles with drug addiction.  This drug addiction has had a large impact on the band’s success.  In fact, in 1996, the Stone Temple Pilots tour for Tiny Music…Songs from the Vatican Gift Shop fell short and several Stone Temple Pilots concerts had to be cancelled because of Weiland’s dependency on drugs.  
• Although the Stone Temple Pilots planned to release their sixth studio album in 2003 (and had already begun working on it in 2002), the band broke up after band members Scott Weiland and Dean DeLeo nearly got into a fistfight during one of the concerts of the 2002 STP tour.
