Facts About Neil Diamond and Neil Diamond Tours

• In 1962, Neil Diamond joined Columbia Records as a solo performer.  With Columbia, he released the single, “At Night.”  Even with a radio tour, however, the single was unsuccessful.
• Diamond rose to fame as a songwriter.  He wrote several songs which were eventually recorded by The Monkees.  Although Diamond had intended to release these songs himself, The Monkees’ cover versions were released first.  This had unintended benefits though; Neil Diamond became recognized as both a singer and a songwriter.
• Neil Diamond met his current girlfriend, Australia Native Rachel Farley, while on tour in 1996.  She was taking care of his  Marketing for the Promoter for his 1996 Australian tour.
• Neil Diamond had to have a tumor removed from his spine in 1979.  This left him in a wheelchair for 3 months.
• Neil Diamond has always drawn big crowds for his tours.  Billboard Magazine named him the most profitable solo performer in 1986.
