History Behind the Monster Truck
It all began in the 1970’s, when many people became interested in modifying the sizes and bodies of their pick-up trucks. It was around this time when mud bogging and truck pulling sports were dramatically increasing in popularity and truck owners began to increase their tire sizes in preparation to compete. From this, emerged a new event, to determine which person would be granted the the title of owning the biggest truck.
At the dawn of Monster Truck’s popularity, the largest tires around were nothing short of 48 inches in diameter. Today Mass Destruction (a huge ticket seller) currently holds the record, running tires that are a staggering 74 inches in diameter.
